Artist Profile

Sheilla Naidoo

Born on the enchanting island of Mauritius, famously known as the land of the dodo, I grew up surrounded by tropical beauty and vibrant culture. As a child, I was a mischievous, adventurous tomboy who spent my days climbing trees, kicking balls in slippers, and playing games with my older brothers and cousins. Though my beginnings were humble and grounded, my imagination was boundless.

It was during these early years that I first encountered the magic of paint. Encouraged by my older brother, who recognized my budding talent, I entered my first art competition, igniting a spark that would one day become my passion. Yet, like many youthful pursuits, my artistry went dormant for years—waiting patiently to be rediscovered.

As I grew into adulthood, I was told I had become an elegant and graceful young woman, a contrast to my playful childhood days. This new chapter led me to an exciting ten-year modeling career, filled with catwalks, photoshoots, glamorous events, and stays in luxurious hotels. I was even featured in Paris Match magazine and other publications. All the while, I balanced these experiences with the joys and challenges of being a young wife and mother, earning the affectionate nickname "Miss Sourire" (Miss Smile) from friends for my ever-present happiness and warmth.

After moving to the UK, I ventured into roles in investment banking, civil engineering, and other industries. While I enjoyed my work, I always felt a quiet calling—an urge to create. One day, I picked up a pencil, and as if no time had passed, my love for art and creativity surged back into my life.

Now, as an artist, I find endless joy in bringing color and life to my ideas. Inspiration flows freely, guiding my brush with excitement and purpose. When I’m immersed in my art, time fades, and I lose myself in the magic of creation. For me, there is no greater fulfillment than sharing my passion through my work, turning emotions, stories, and dreams into vibrant masterpieces.
